The Soldiers of Love – Bringing Souls Together

Founded in 2023 by jazz vocalist Nina Yip Simone, The Soldiers of Love celebrates the timeless music of one of the most iconic artists in soul and jazz history: Sade.

Nina grew up in a home where Sade’s music was part of everyday life. Her warm, velvety voice was soon compared to that of her greatest inspiration. After performing Kiss of Life live for the first time, she was repeatedly encouraged to create a full show dedicated to Sade’s music. That inspiration led to the birth of The Soldiers of Love.

The band, based in Rotterdam, consists of six professional musicians from the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Spain and Indonesia. This international line-up brings together diverse musical backgrounds, united by a shared passion for soul, jazz and groove.

Through their music, The Soldiers of Love tells the story of Sade Adu—a British-Nigerian artist who overcame prejudice and discrimination to become a global icon, touching millions with her music. Her message of love, diversity and human connection lies at the heart of every performance.

The show features Sade’s greatest classics, including Smooth Operator, No Ordinary Love, Kiss of Life, The Sweetest Taboo and Cherish the Day. While remaining true to the unmistakable sound and atmosphere of the original recordings, the band adds its own refined signature through jazz, soul and R&B influences, expressive improvisations, powerful instrumental solos and a dynamic live performance.
